Drawing cement

I have a cast St Francis figurene that sits by my small bog pond on my patio. It looked so pretty when the Lizard Tail was blooming that I wanted to draw it. You would think that simple monochromatic cement would be easy to draw. Having never attempted it before, it was a bit difficult. But I plan to draw more until its easy. I have a Buddha figure out there too.

This was drawn in color pencil on a 12 x 24 sketch pad. I bought the odd narrow pad because:

1. it was on sale
2. I’m addicted to blank sketch pads.

And then discovered, duh, 12 x 24 is not a standard frame size…(I’m just sayin’.)
But the tall size is interesting to work with.
