TTV (Thru the Viewfinder) Photography – A recent hobby of mine, it’s fun you should give it a try. They are fun to shoot and very popular. Search the internet for TTV and see what you find!

TTV photos are shot by aiming your camera lens at the viewfinder of another camera, like a vintage Kodak Duaflex – You could call this kind of photography “Performance Art” – since the image is backwards in the Duaflex camera, you sometimes tend to stagger around a bit trying to frame your shot. A least I always do. It’s like trying to shoot through a periscope and it is an interesting and fun process.

Here is my “set up” – I use a Kodak Duaflex II. I have a potato chip can (that was trimmed down) duct-taped to the camera. I shoot with a Konica Minolta Maxxum 5D (digital SLR) with a Sony 2.8/50 Macro lens. The lens of the digital camera fits into the top of the chip can and focuses on the big square viewfinder of the Duaflex. You don’t need an SLR to shoot TTV, any camera will do. Try it yourself. Ebay is a good place to find Kodak Duaflex or Argus cameras.
