Whimsical

One of the things I like about being part of a community of artists online like ATCsForAll.com is that it makes me try creating something I wouldn’t usually create. “Whimsy” seems to be a popular theme to some of these online swaps and threads. I signed up for a group swap titled “Whimsical Cats.” Here is what I came up with.

And later I traded individually with these 2 for “colorful whimsical cards.”

I’m not sure I can do whimsy just yet. But these last 2 cards are getting closer since I see a lot of swirls and curls in others whimsy cards. But right now mine are colorful yes, but maybe too cartoony or realistic. I like the last 2 – I’ve been playing with adding pure black to backgrounds, adds some contrast and depth to the image.
