Yellow

I’m in another journal exchange – I received a journal where the theme is Rainbow – my scheduled color was yellow. Yellow was not my favorite color, and monochromatic scares me a bit. I initially looked up “canary” to have something to draw – as I am drawing lots of birds lately.

From a canary search, I discovered yellow bird of paradise flowers (the ones on the right). I didn’t know there were yellow bird of paradise. So from there I began drawing 2 more bird of pardise flowers and then a bird in the middle with a beak that mimicked the shapes of the blooms.

I have decided that I very much like to work with yellow now and monochrome is not so scary.

I used the always brilliant Dr. Martin inks and color pencil. You can see a bit of the orange before my art and I added a bit of green on the right so the next artist will blend right in.
